Smoky Mountain Roots. Built on Real Music.

Monroeville is a Smoky Mountain-based band rooted in the traditions of Bluegrass, Country, and Blues music — with a modern energy that connects across genres and generations.

Founded by Matt Munsey, a Grammy-nominated musician, Monroeville began in 2010 with the release of their self-titled debut album. What started as a passion for honest, acoustic-driven music quickly grew into a full-time act known for engaging crowds and delivering high-energy performances.

Where It Started

Since their debut in 2010, Monroeville has stayed true to its roots, writing and performing original music. Over the years, the band has recorded four full-length albums, numerous singles and music videos, and a live album with a youth orchestra — all made up of original songs that reflect their sound, story, and evolution as a group.

That commitment to original music and live performance has opened the door to major moments along the way — including being named IBMA Momentum Band of the Year and performing in front of 80,000 fans at Bristol Motor Speedway on live television. They have performed live filmings for syndicated TV shows, and secured coveted spots on national festival stages.

A Smoky Mountain Staple

Based in the heart of East Tennessee, Monroeville has spent years entertaining millions of visitors from around the world at some of the Smoky Mountains’ most well-known venues and attractions in addition to national festivals and TV appearances.

  • Dollywood - 65 shows in one year
  • Ole Smoky Moonshine Distillery – 13 consecutive years
  • SkyLand Ranch – 4 years performing and desiging full-production shows
  • National Festivals including ROMP (KY), Grey Fox (NY), Planet Bluegrass (CO)
  • TV Shows including Song of the Mountains & Woodsongs Old-Time Radio Hour
From daily performances for tourists to large-scale events and festivals, the band has built a reputation for consistency, professionalism, and crowd-connecting energy.

The Fire

At 2:30 a.m. on Friday, February 13, 2026, a fire broke out at SkyLand Ranch, destroying the café, retail store, stage, and much of Monroeville Band’s instruments and equipment.

The band had spent several years performing at the venue and depended on it for a large portion of their shows and income.

Despite the loss, the band remains positive and is actively working toward rebuilding, while continuing to perform and reach audiences beyond the Smoky Mountains.

The Sound

Monroeville blends:

  • Traditional Bluegrass instrumentation
  • Country / Blues songwriting and storytelling
  • High-energy live performance
The result is a sound that works just as well on a festival stage as it does in an intimate setting — always rooted in authenticity, always focused on connection.

The Band

Today, Monroeville is powered by a group of musicians who bring both talent and personality to the stage:

Matt Munsey

Founder of Monroeville and a Grammy-nominated musician, Matt Munsey has spent years shaping the band’s sound and direction. As a songwriter, performer, and bandleader, he brings a deep respect for traditional music while pushing Monroeville forward with a modern edge. His passion for authentic, high-energy performance is at the core of everything the band does.

McCoy Borg

A cornerstone of Monroeville for over 14 years, McCoy Borg is the kind of musician every band hopes to have — versatile, dependable, and endlessly talented. Known as “everybody’s brother,” he can play just about anything you put in his hands, but it’s his banjo playing that truly stands out. When McCoy picks, he doesn’t just play the instrument — he makes it sing.

Skylar Gandy

Bringing a touch of South Georgia soul to Monroeville, Skylar Gandy delivers a sound that’s both powerful and unmistakable. His fiddle playing carries a vocal quality that draws listeners in, and his voice has a way of stopping people in their tracks. Whether leading a song or adding texture to the band’s sound, Skylar brings emotion and energy to every performance.

Parker Collins

At just 18 years old, Parker Collins is already a seasoned professional with a decade of experience on stage. A true guitar prodigy, he’s just as comfortable performing on the Grand Ole Opry stage with Vince Gill as he is touring with Diamond Rio. Despite opportunities at the highest level, Parker has chosen to make his creative home with Monroeville, bringing a level of talent and maturity far beyond his years.

Kyle Dillow

Kyle Dillow is a master musician with a deep understanding of both performance and theory. With an engineering degree and a sharp musical mind, he brings a level of precision and insight that elevates the entire band. Kyle’s ability to break down and understand the music keeps everyone growing, making him an essential part of Monroeville’s sound and evolution. Each member contributes to the band’s dynamic sound, creating a tight, energetic performance that keeps audiences engaged from the first note to the last.
